Challenge
For the release of their new Hot Tub Time Machine 2 film, Paramount Pictures wanted to draw interest to their Out of Home advertising with a level of interactivity, driving users to the film's site and increasing pre-bookings in central New York.
Mission
Create an engaging, fun & eye-catching experience in line with the film's irreverent humour!
Solution
Featuring the film's titular hot tub, we devised a funny dunk-tank game, allowing users to connect via their mobile phones to fire balls at a target on screen to dunk the films main characters into the tub! Compositing the steamy tub into the screens and setting up a multi-screen matrix, we then worked to refine the game mechanics and playability for maximum fun.
To bring our main characters to life inside the game engine, we created a list of character interactions, allowing them to respond and flinch at the user's projectiles depending on their closeness & direction... as well as the successful dunk!
The game was so successful, it was then ported over to LA where it saw further success. I worked to lead the team on the creative and asset generation, working hands on to direct shoot elements, compositing the elements for a holistic look, and for final playtest & install.
